Charge_iN by Mahindra and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) have announced a strategic collaboration to deploy electric vehicle charging stations across HPCL’s fuel retail network in India. The partnership is aimed at strengthening the country’s public charging infrastructure and supporting the growing adoption of electric mobility.
Under the agreement, Charge_iN by Mahindra will leverage HPCL’s extensive network of more than 24,400 fuel stations to install advanced charging solutions nationwide. The initiative is expected to enhance convenience for electric vehicle users by providing accessible, reliable, and high-speed charging facilities at key locations across urban centres and highways.
HPCL, one of India’s largest state-owned energy companies, already operates over 5,400 EV charging stations under its HP e-Charge brand. The collaboration will build on this existing footprint, enabling faster deployment and broader reach of charging infrastructure as demand for electric vehicles continues to rise.
The charging stations introduced through this partnership will feature 180 kW dual-gun chargers designed specifically for electric four-wheelers. These systems are intended to deliver faster charging times and improved efficiency, helping reduce wait times and supporting longer-distance travel.
The agreement comes at a time when India is accelerating its transition toward cleaner transportation solutions. Expanding public charging infrastructure is seen as a key enabler in addressing range anxiety and encouraging wider EV adoption. By combining Mahindra’s focus on electric mobility with HPCL’s nationwide presence, the collaboration aims to create a more robust and user-friendly charging ecosystem.
Charge_iN by Mahindra is part of the company’s broader vision to advance electric mobility through the development of high-speed charging networks. The initiative aligns with national priorities to promote sustainable transportation and reduce dependence on conventional fuels.
HPCL continues to diversify its energy portfolio in line with the evolving energy landscape, with increasing investments in renewable and alternative energy solutions. The company has been steadily expanding its EV infrastructure across highways and major cities, complementing its traditional fuel operations.
The partnership represents a step forward in building an integrated EV ecosystem in India, bringing together infrastructure, technology, and accessibility. It is expected to play a role in supporting the country’s long-term sustainability goals while improving the overall experience for EV users. Both organisations indicated that the collaboration will focus on scalable deployment and operational efficiency, contributing to the development of a reliable nationwide charging network.
