Honeywell (NASDAQ: HON) has announced the commercial launch of its Experion Operations Assistant, an artificial intelligence–enabled solution developed to improve how industrial operators oversee plant performance, make operational decisions and address potential issues before they escalate into critical events.
The solution is built on Honeywell’s Experion PKS distributed control system and combines historical process data with real-time operational inputs. By analyzing these data streams together, it provides operators with predictive insights that help identify risks tied to safety, reliability and production efficiency. This approach enables earlier intervention, supporting efforts to reduce operational disruptions and improve plant performance.
The commercial rollout follows a pilot phase involving global energy companies, including Chevron and TotalEnergies. During this period, the system demonstrated the ability to anticipate alarm events several minutes in advance. On average, it identified potential incidents five to ten minutes before they occurred, giving operators time to take corrective action and avoid unplanned downtime.
Jim Masso, president and CEO of Honeywell Process Automation, said the industrial sector is facing growing pressure to maintain output while managing workforce transitions and increasingly complex operations. He noted that combining decades of automation expertise with advanced analytics allows organizations to better capture operational knowledge and apply it in real time. According to Masso, pilot deployments confirmed that the solution can deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, safety and decision-making.
Experion Operations Assistant is designed to integrate into existing control room environments without requiring significant infrastructure changes. It builds on site-specific data already available within operational systems and applies advanced language models to continuously interpret and contextualize that information. This enables the system to provide timely recommendations that help operators respond with greater confidence.
The introduction of this solution reflects Honeywell’s ongoing focus on advancing digital technologies that support industrial transformation. By enhancing visibility and enabling predictive decision-making, the company aims to help customers improve operational resilience and maximize the value of existing assets.
Honeywell operates across a wide range of industries and regions, aligning its business with long-term trends such as automation, aviation innovation and energy transition. Through its technology platforms and integrated solutions, the company supports customers in addressing complex challenges while improving safety, sustainability and overall performance.
