ABB has expanded its all-compatible drive portfolio with the introduction of a new wall-mounted frame, extending the ACS580-01, ACQ580-01 and ACH580-01 drive ranges to include 315 kW and 355 kW power ratings. The new frame delivers up to 355 kW in a compact wall-mounted format, positioning ABB among the most space-efficient solutions in this power category.
The expansion addresses rising demand for higher output power in environments where installation space is limited. The compact design helps reduce cabinet size, panel footprint and overall system complexity, lowering integration costs across applications such as cooling and refrigeration, water and wastewater treatment, heat pump systems and general industrial processes.
The new wall-mounted drives can be skid-mounted directly onto equipment or installed within cabinets, including under-unit horizontal mounting. This flexibility supports seamless integration into machine structures and modular system layouts, enabling optimized design configurations.
All variants in the ACS580-01, ACQ580-01 and ACH580-01 ranges are available with IP21 and IP55 enclosure classes, making them suitable for both standard cabinet installations and demanding operating environments. The drives are engineered to operate in ambient temperatures up to 55 °C, with 40 °C supported without derating, and comply with C3 (IP21) and C4 (IP55) environmental classifications to ensure long-term reliability.
Installation and commissioning are streamlined through an optimized wiring terminal section and a patented tilting cabling box, providing improved access to internal components during setup and maintenance. Offline configuration capabilities allow parameter setting without requiring the physical drive to be powered, helping reduce commissioning time.
For cooling and refrigeration applications, the drives incorporate dedicated compressor functionality with support for standard refrigerant tables and Antoine coefficients for custom refrigerants. This enables straightforward integration into new and retrofit systems, while included A2L and A3 refrigeration conformity documentation supports compliance with modern refrigerant standards. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are available to assist manufacturers and system integrators in evaluating environmental impact and advancing lifecycle sustainability goals.
Andy Organ, Global Product Manager – HVACR drives at ABB, stated that extending the ACS580, ACQ580 and ACH580 families up to 355 kW in a wall-mounted format enables customers to develop more compact, cost-effective and reliable solutions across industries.
