In the aftermath of the August 2025 floods in Punjab, Bridgestone India and ADRA India have rehabilitated 20 government schools in Gurdaspur district, where flood damage disrupted classrooms and sanitation facilities and left many students without essential learning materials.

Implemented between October 2025 and January 2026, the three-month initiative was carried out in coordination with district authorities, School Management Committees and community representatives to prioritise the most affected schools. In Gurdaspur, more than 324 villages were submerged, leading to prolonged school closures.

The project repaired and restored toilets and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in 12 schools, directly benefiting around 697 students by reinstating safe, functional sanitation—critical for health, dignity and consistent attendance, particularly for girls.

In addition, 585 students from vulnerable households—including daily wage earners, migrant families and women-headed homes—received education kits to replace books and supplies lost in the floods, easing financial strain and enabling a quicker return to learning.

The programme emphasised sustainability by training School Management Committees on basic maintenance and incorporating durability measures to strengthen resilience against future flooding. The initiative aligns with Bridgestone’s E8 Commitment values—Empowerment, Ease and Emotion—underscoring its focus on accessibility, wellbeing and community support through responsible corporate action.
