Motivair by Schneider Electric, a specialist in liquid cooling technologies for digital infrastructure, has introduced a new 2.5MW Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) engineered to support high-density data center environments and the growing thermal demands of next-generation AI computing. Named the MCDU-70, the new system is Motivair’s highest-capacity CDU to date. The company said the unit has been developed to address the requirements of advanced GPU-driven workloads and large-scale AI Factory deployments, where cooling performance, reliability, and scalability are critical.
Motivair stated that the CDU can be deployed as part of a centralized cooling architecture using Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure software, allowing operators to manage cooling requirements efficiently while planning for expansion. The platform-based approach enables scale-up for high-performance computing (HPC), AI, and accelerated computing operations, with configurations designed to grow beyond 10MW.
Designed with a compact footprint and high-efficiency operation, the MCDU-70 is positioned as a solution for large data center buildouts where consistent flow performance and facility pressure must be maintained even at very high power densities. Motivair said the unit’s capacity aligns with emerging AI infrastructure designs, including deployment concepts targeting 10MW building blocks on the path to gigawatt-scale facilities. At 2.5MW per CDU, six units can support a 4+2 redundancy configuration, ensuring resilience while meeting high-capacity cooling needs.
“AI compute is accelerating quickly, and infrastructure must keep up with the pace of chip evolution,” said Rich Whitmore, CEO & President, Motivair by Schneider Electric. “Data center operators need cooling systems that are dependable, efficient, and built to scale for next-generation AI Factory deployments. The MCDU-70 reflects our focus on delivering liquid cooling platforms that grow with customer requirements.”
Highlighting the wider infrastructure shift driven by AI, Venkataraman Swaminathan, Vice President – Secure Power, Greater India, Schneider Electric, said, “As AI-led digital infrastructure expands in scale and complexity, reliable and energy-efficient power and cooling systems are becoming central to modern data center design. Schneider Electric is committed to supporting future-ready infrastructure that performs at scale while advancing efficiency and sustainability objectives.”
With the MCDU-70 now added to the lineup, Schneider Electric’s liquid cooling portfolio includes CDUs ranging from 105kW up to 2.5MW. The company said the systems are designed for modular deployment, enabling integration across multiple units and software-driven monitoring and control for accurate, consistent cooling delivery.
The MCDU-70 is now available for global ordering, with production supported through Schneider Electric’s advanced manufacturing hubs in North America, Europe, and Asia.
