Lupin Limited has entered into a licensing and supply agreement with Galenicum Health, S.L.U. for finished formulations of injectable Semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. The agreement has been executed through Lupin’s subsidiary, Lupin Atlantis Holdings SA, and covers 23 countries across Canada, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.

Under the terms of the collaboration, Galenicum will be responsible for product development, manufacturing, and supply, while Lupin will manage regulatory filings, approvals, commercialization, and distribution across the licensed territories. The partnership strengthens Lupin’s strategy to expand its diabetes and obesity portfolio beyond India and capitalize on the growing global demand for GLP-1 therapies.

Lupin noted that rising diabetes prevalence and the increasing recognition of obesity as a global health challenge have positioned Semaglutide as a cornerstone therapy. The agreement enables Lupin to leverage its established commercial infrastructure across multiple regions to scale access efficiently as market opportunities mature.

Galenicum highlighted that the partnership supports its objective to expand its presence in the B2B GLP-1 segment, where reliability, scale, and quality are critical. The company has made significant investments in its GLP-1 development pipeline to meet accelerating global demand for these therapies.

Semaglutide is widely prescribed for adults with Type 2 diabetes, in conjunction with diet and exercise, and is also approved for long-term weight management in adults with obesity or overweight conditions. The collaboration reflects a shared commitment by both companies to improving patient access to high-quality, affordable medicines across diverse global markets.

Lupin Limited is headquartered in Mumbai and operates in over 100 markets worldwide, with a strong presence in India and the United States. The company manufactures branded and generic formulations, complex generics, biotechnology products, and APIs across 15 manufacturing sites and seven research centers globally.
