Indian Link Chain Manufacturers Limited has announced a major milestone in India’s electronics and semiconductor landscape with the launch of the country’s first fully indigenous Fingerprint Sensor Module, developed under the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. This achievement marks a significant advancement in India’s efforts to build domestic capabilities in high-technology electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

As part of its long-term technology strategy, Indian Link Chain Manufacturers Limited has successfully acquired full intellectual property rights, core technology ownership, and associated patents for the Fingerprint Sensor Module. This enables the company to independently design, engineer, package, and test advanced semiconductor products entirely within India—an important step toward national semiconductor self-sufficiency.

To support this initiative, the company has partnered with a leading technology firm in Taiwan to establish advanced product engineering and packaging capabilities. With wafer-level support from the partner and backend processing handled domestically, the Fingerprint Sensor Module now represents a true end-to-end semiconductor solution developed in India.

Speaking on the launch, Anay Chodankar, Managing Director, Indian Link Chain Manufacturers Limited, said “The launch of our first indigenous Fingerprint Sensor Module is a defining moment for the company and a meaningful contribution to the Make in India vision. The Indian fingerprint scanner market, valued at USD 145.1 million in 2024, is expected to grow to USD 383 million by 2033 at a CAGR of 11.43%. This growth is being driven by increasing smartphone adoption, UPI-led digital payments, government initiatives such as Digi Yatra, and the expanding use of biometrics in financial services, access control, and security systems across the Asia-Pacific region.”

This development strengthens India’s ambition to build a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem. Leveraging strong in-house R&D, international technology collaborations, and advanced domestic manufacturing infrastructure, the company aims to serve both Indian and global markets with secure, high-performance biometric semiconductor solutions. The launch underscores India’s progress toward semiconductor self-reliance and reinforces the country’s emergence as a hub for electronics innovation, advanced manufacturing, and secure digital infrastructure.

In line with its expanding focus on semiconductor design, electronic components, and advanced technology solutions, the company has initiated the process to change its name from “The Indian Link Chain Manufacturers Limited” to “RRP Electronics India Limited.” A RUN application has been filed in accordance with the company’s revised object clause, subject to shareholder approvals. The proposed name change is intended to better reflect the company’s evolving business focus and its growing role in India’s high-technology and semiconductor ecosystem.
