Ampvolts Limited, one of India’s prominent electric vehicle infrastructure players, has deployed a fleet of 10 Montra Electric RHINO e-trucks on the Pipavav–Sutrapada limestone corridor for GHCL Limited, where it is operating as a logistics service provider. This development represents a strategic transition for Ampvolts from being primarily a charge point operator to offering integrated green mobility solutions that combine charging infrastructure with fleet operations.
The deployment follows over a year of successful operation of multi-user truck charging hubs along the same route. Building on this foundation, Ampvolts is now extending its capabilities to deliver end-to-end fleet solutions, enabling customers to accelerate their shift to cleaner freight transport.
The electric truck fleet was flagged off by GHCL’s Vice President, PN Rao, who reiterated the company’s focus on sustainable logistics and its commitment to supporting cleaner transportation alternatives. With a long-term emphasis on ESG compliance and operating cost optimisation, corporates such as GHCL are increasingly recognising the commercial and operational advantages of electric trucks, particularly as domestic availability improves.
India’s commercial electric vehicle segment is approaching a rapid growth phase. Heavy-duty electric trucks are projected to grow at a compound annual rate of around 55 percent through FY2030, while the overall commercial EV market is expected to reach USD 38.6 billion by 2033. Strong policy support through initiatives such as PM E-DRIVE, FAME II charging infrastructure funding, and dedicated subsidies for electric trucks has created favourable conditions for adoption. However, challenges related to charging availability, operational clarity, and system integration have historically slowed large-scale deployment.
The collaboration between GHCL and Ampvolts directly addresses these hurdles. By combining operational charging hubs, fleet management expertise, and the ability to serve multiple logistics service providers, Ampvolts enables industrial customers to progress toward their sustainability targets while maintaining cost efficiency.
For GHCL and similar enterprises, lowering Scope-3 emissions has become critical in the context of India’s net-zero ambitions and emerging global regulations such as the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism. Transportation typically accounts for 15–25 percent of supply chain emissions for industrial producers. The use of electric trucks for limestone movement is expected to reduce approximately 11,000–12,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions annually from GHCL’s logistics operations.
Ampvolts’ model extends beyond conventional charging services by integrating infrastructure, fleet operations, and lifecycle support into a unified offering. According to NaimishRaval, Director at Ampvolts Limited, the company is actively working with transporters, logistics firms, and vehicle manufacturers to simplify EV adoption. Building on its infrastructure expertise, Ampvolts plans to develop an ecosystem of up to 500 electric trucks across India over the next two to three years and remains open to other users seeking to leverage its charging hubs along key routes.
To support future growth, Ampvolts is planning further infrastructure augmentation, including additional electrical load capacity and supporting equipment to enable rapid hub expansion. The company is also exploring the integration of renewable energy sources to align with its “True-Green” mobility vision, ensuring that both vehicles and their energy supply are decarbonised.
At the event, ecosystem partners reaffirmed their commitment to scaling electric freight operations. Montra Electric–IPLTech, part of the Murugappa Group, confirmed full lifecycle support for the RHINO e-truck fleet, covering maintenance, diagnostics, and ongoing performance optimisation. Verdemobility highlighted its efforts to provide high-capacity DC fast chargers of up to 360 kW, enabling faster turnaround times essential for commercial logistics.
Ampvolts Limited is a leading provider of EV charging hubs and green mobility solutions, offering a comprehensive range of ARAI-certified AC and DC chargers. With a strong B2B focus, the company supports electric mobility across cars, buses, and heavy-duty trucks, addressing operational challenges and enabling smoother transitions to sustainable transportation across domestic and international markets.
