Sinoboom has launched its Collision Avoidance Radar System (CARS), a newly developed safety solution designed to detect and prevent collision risks across its boom lift product range. The system uses a network of sensors positioned around the platform to create a three-dimensional detection field capable of identifying both stationary and moving hazards in real time.
CARS integrates solid-state ultrasonic sensors with dual-fusion radar technology, enabling rapid and accurate risk assessment and proactive intervention. When a potential collision is detected, the system initiates a structured, multi-stage response designed to protect both the operator and the machine.
The first level activates visual and audible alerts to warn operators as the boom lift approaches an obstacle. If movement toward the hazard continues, the system automatically reduces operating speed. In situations where a collision becomes imminent, CARS applies active braking, bringing all machine movement to a stop as a final safety measure. Beyond improving safety, the system also supports operational efficiency, as it remains effective in conditions that typically limit visibility, including fog, dust, and low-light or night-time environments.
Hyman Yu, Head of Sinoboom’s Global Product Management Center, said, “Even highly experienced operators are subject to human error, and when working at height, the consequences can be severe. CARS has been developed to provide an intelligent safety layer that supports operators by intervening when a collision risk escalates, including stopping machine movement when necessary.”
The launch of CARS reflects Sinoboom’s ongoing focus on integrating advanced safety technologies into its equipment portfolio, reinforcing its commitment to safer and smarter work-at-height solutions. Sinoboom is a global manufacturer of aerial work platforms (AWPs), specialising in the design, development, and production of access equipment used across construction, industrial maintenance, warehousing, logistics, and infrastructure sectors.
Founded in China, the company has built a comprehensive product portfolio that includes scissor lifts, articulated and telescopic boom lifts, mast lifts, and specialised access solutions, available in electric, hybrid, and diesel variants. Sinoboom has steadily expanded its international footprint through overseas manufacturing bases, R&D centres, and sales and service networks across Asia, Europe, North America, and other regions. With a strong focus on technology, safety, and reliability, the company invests in advanced manufacturing, intelligent control systems, and compliance with global standards, enabling it to serve multinational customers and rental companies worldwide.
