Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BSE: 500124, NSE: DRREDDY, NYSE: RDY, NSEIFSC: DRREDDY), together with its subsidiaries, announced today that its Net Zero commitment and associated near- and long-term emissions reduction targets have been formally validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company has pledged to reach Net Zero emissions across its entire value chain by FY2045.

In the near term, Dr Reddy’s plans to cut absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80% and reduce Scope 3 emissions by 51.6% per INR value added by FY2030, using FY2023 as the reference year. By FY2045, the company aims to achieve a 90% absolute reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Dr Reddy’s is currently the only Indian pharmaceutical company to commit to an SBTi-approved Net Zero target for FY2045.

The company had earlier announced near-term SBTi targets in 2020. With sustained progress and evolving global expectations, Dr Reddy’s has now strengthened its climate roadmap by adopting a full Net Zero strategy in alignment with the latest SBTi guidelines.

Sanjay Sharma, Global Head of Operations and Chief Human Resources Officer, said, “Sustainability has been part of our identity for many years, and this milestone reflects our intention to lead with action. Our Net Zero ambition for 2045 represents both responsibility and scientific rigor as we align with global climate pathways and raise the bar for the pharmaceutical sector.” He added that Dr Reddy’s remains on track to eliminate coal and furnace oil from its operations by the end of FY2026 and already sourced 68% of its electricity from renewable sources in FY2025.

Dr Reddy’s, founded in 1984 and headquartered in Hyderabad, is a global pharmaceutical company committed to expanding access to affordable and innovative medicines. Guided by its purpose, “Good Health Can’t Wait,” the company offers APIs, generics, branded generics, biosimilars, and OTC products across the U.S., India, Russia & CIS, China, Brazil, and Europe.
