Vikram Solar has inaugurated its cutting-edge Vallam manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu, adding 5 GW of new module production capacity and elevating its total capacity to 9.5 GW. The facility marks a major advancement for India’s solar manufacturing sector, featuring a highly automated production environment that integrates robotics, advanced handling systems, real-time quality controls, and fully automated packaging lines—many introduced in India for the first time. This enhanced automation improves precision, increases output, boosts reliability, and establishes a new benchmark for high-volume solar manufacturing.

Spread across 27,000 sq. m, the Vallam unit is built on TOPCon technology with provisions for smooth HJT upgrades and supports M10, G12, and G12R formats. The new plant brings tangible benefits for customers by ensuring consistent performance, lower defect rates, improved durability, and reduced degradation. Faster throughput and predictable supply schedules translate into shorter delivery times, higher dependability, and better long-term energy yields. All modules adhere to Tier-1 and international quality standards, offering customers globally benchmarked performance and safety.

The commissioning of Vallam further strengthens VikramSolar’s role in Tamil Nadu’s expanding clean-energy manufacturing ecosystem. It complements the company’s existing Oragadam facility and follows the ground-breaking of its upcoming Gangaikondan plant. Together, these centres underline VikramSolar’s long-term strategy to anchor advanced solar manufacturing and clean-tech innovation in one of India’s fastest-growing renewable-energy hubs.

Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman & Managing Director of Vikram Solar, said the Vallam project represents a defining step for both the company and India’s solar industry. He noted that completing a 5 GW facility within a year demonstrates VikramSolar’s readiness for the scale and innovation required in the coming decade. The company’s focus remains on automation-led quality, future-ready technology platforms, and strengthening India’s position in the global clean-tech value chain.

Modules from the Vallam facility will serve customers across India—from utility-scale developers to C&I users and distributed-generation projects—supporting the nation’s accelerating clean-energy targets. As part of its inclusive-growth agenda, Vikram Solar aims to achieve 40–50% gender diversity in the plant’s core workforce, helping build a modern and equitable manufacturing ecosystem.
