Mahindra Logistics and L’Oréal India Unveil India’s First Fully Women-Run Warehouse

manufacturing-news

Mahindra Logistics Limited, one of the country’s leading integrated logistics providers, and L’Oréal India have jointly launched a pioneering warehouse in Indore, Madhya Pradesh—India’s first facility to be operated entirely by women. This milestone places women at the forefront of end-to-end warehouse activities, signaling a major shift in workforce representation within the logistics industry.

The initiative reflects the ongoing transformation of India’s supply chain landscape, where women are increasingly taking on pivotal operational roles. By entrusting them with responsibilities central to warehouse performance, the facility broadens opportunities in areas where female participation has historically been limited. The workforce has received extensive training in self-defence, POSH compliance, fire safety, first aid, and leadership development, preparing them for specialised and supervisory roles.

Designed to strengthen L’Oréal India’s distribution network across central India, the warehouse enables efficient supply to key markets including Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore, Narsinghpur, Satna, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Rewa, Singrauli, and several other major locations. The site supports a wide range of products through a streamlined fulfilment model and operates on Mahindra Logistics’ in-house warehouse management system, ensuring real-time visibility, high accuracy, optimised workflows, and consistent service quality. The system integrates smoothly with L’Oréal’s distribution needs, enhancing inventory discipline and overall supply chain reliability.

Speaking about the launch, Hemant Sikka, Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Logistics Limited, highlighted the importance of expanding women’s representation in core logistics operations as India’s supply chain grows in scale and complexity. He emphasised that the collaboration with L’Oréal India aims to challenge conventional industry practices and cultivate more inclusive workplaces. Arun Saravanakumar, Director – Supply Chain at L’Oréal India, noted that establishing the country’s first 100% women-operated warehouse reinforces the company’s commitment to gender balance and shared value creation across communities, marking a significant step toward a more inclusive value chain.
