Komatsu Ltd has formalized a new strategic arrangement with Bangkok Motor Works Co, Ltd (BMW), its long-standing distribution partner in Thailand and Cambodia. Under this agreement, the two companies have created a joint venture to manage the distribution of Komatsu’s construction and mining equipment in Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, and Brunei. These markets were previously served by Komatsu Holdings Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, whose transition into the new structure has now been completed.
Komatsu and BMW have built a strong partnership over the years, operating joint ventures in Thailand since 2010 and in Cambodia since 2015. Their expanded collaboration aims to reinforce long-term growth in the construction and mining sectors throughout Southeast Asia by bringing four additional countries under their shared distributorship model.
As part of the new framework, BMW will take a 60% ownership stake in the relevant KHMS subsidiaries, while Komatsu will maintain a 40% share. This structure reflects the companies’ joint interest in strengthening market presence, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing service capabilities in the region.
