Bajaj Electricals Limited, a leading name in lighting and home solutions, has entered into a strategic partnership with the TIH Foundation for IoT & IoE at IIT Bombay to co-create intelligent street lighting systems under the “Smart Streetlight Control” initiative. This collaboration blends Bajaj’s extensive experience in large-scale lighting deployments with TIH’s advanced capabilities in electronics, connectivity, and AI/ML research. Together, they aim to build energy-efficient, intelligent lighting networks that align with India’s Smart City mission and support key national programmes such as Digital India and Make in India.
The MoU was formalised at Bajaj’s R&D Centre in Mumbai, with senior leaders from both sides in attendance. Notable participants included Rajesh Naik (COO, Bajaj Lighting Solutions) who joined virtually, and Anand Joshi (CTO & Head – R&D, Bajaj Electricals), Yogesh Jagtap (IoT Vertical Head – R&D, Bajaj Electricals), Kiran Shesh (CEO, TIH), Dr. Prasad Ramanathan (CTO, TIH), and Dr. Ashwini Gajarushi (Engineering Manager, TIH).
The initial phase of the partnership will focus on designing AI-driven lighting systems capable of delivering high levels of energy optimisation, operational efficiency, and reliability. Over time, the scope is expected to widen to address broader smart infrastructure challenges in urban environments.
Anand Joshi, CTO & Head of R&D at Bajaj Electricals, said, “Innovation is deeply rooted in our approach. By joining hands with TIH Foundation, we are taking a meaningful step toward creating smart lighting ecosystems that improve safety, sustainability, and energy usage in cities across India.”
