Sunita Tools Limited, a prominent manufacturer of empty artillery shells, has announced plans to significantly expand its production capabilities. In response to rising market demand and as part of its growth strategy, the company will introduce two new production lines, increasing its capacity from 110,000 to 360,000 shells annually. This expansion is expected to be completed over the next two years, with Line 2 expected to begin operations within one year and Line 3 slated for completion by the second year.
The expansion includes the addition of two state-of-the-art production lines, designed to handle various calibers of empty artillery shells. A key component of the project involves a technology partnership with a UK-based company, which will facilitate the transfer of expertise related to press and die design. Furthermore, Sunita Tools plans to source 99% of the necessary equipment domestically, aligning with the Indian government’sMake in India initiative. The total investment for the expansion is projected at approximately INR 126 crore.
This capacity increase is set to meet the growing demand both within India and internationally, as the company has already received a substantial number of domestic inquiries and has secured multiple Letters of Intent (LOIs). Sunita Tools believes this expansion will solidify its position as one of the most cost-effective manufacturers of artillery shells, enabling the company to efficiently serve a global customer base while maintaining its competitive edge in the market.
To fund this ambitious project, the company will utilize a combination of debt financing, equity infusion, and promoter funding. The new production lines are expected to enhance the company’s ability to deliver high-quality artillery shells while meeting the increasing global demand for defense-related manufacturing.
