Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited has received the Energy Efficient Unit Award at the 26th National Awards for Excellence in Energy Management, hosted by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Hyderabad. The award celebrates the strong operational performance of Matix’s urea plant in Panagarh, West Bengal, during the financial year 2024–25 and highlights the company’s continued focus on sustainable industrial practices.

Reflecting on the recognition, Nishant Kanodia, Chairman and Promoter of Matix Fertilisers, said
“This honour holds great significance for everyone at Matix. Our progress in FY25 is a testament to the efforts of our people and the smart investments we’ve made in technology. As one of the largest fertiliser facilities in eastern India, we’ve worked hard to operate responsibly and efficiently. This recognition encourages us to continue placing sustainability at the centre of our operations.”

CII’s annual award programme recognises top performers in energy efficiency across India’s industrial sector and promotes the exchange of successful strategies and technologies in energy management. In FY 2024–25, the Panagarh plant set new benchmarks, producing 1.47 million tonnes of urea and running at 112% of its rated capacity.

The plant ranks among the most energy-efficient urea production sites in India. Further strengthening its sustainability profile, the facility also commissioned a 1 MW floating solar power plant, reinforcing the company’s commitment to cleaner energy and reduced carbon footprint.

Matix operates one of the world’s largest single-stream urea plants, combining cutting-edge systems with globally recognised ISO 50001 energy management standards. The plant plays a vital role in enhancing India’s agricultural productivity while aligning with the country’s clean energy goals.

Matix Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited is a fast-growing player in India’s crop nutrition sector, with around 20% market share in urea sales across eastern India. The company distributes its products across nine states, supported by a strong network of 1,200+ dealers and 74,000+ retailers. Focused on improving farm productivity and soil health, Matix is committed to ensuring food security through high-quality, reliable fertiliser solutions.
