Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered a five-year partnership with Vodafone Idea (Vi) to overhaul its business support systems (BSS) using a new AI-enabled digital platform. The initiative is aimed at strengthening Vi’s customer engagement, streamlining service delivery, and supporting faster rollout of new products.
The new system will be built on two of TCS’s core platforms — TCS HOBS™ and TCS TwinX™. TCS HOBS will provide the foundational infrastructure for business operations and support seamless integration across digital touchpoints, while TCS TwinX will introduce artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance service responsiveness and simulate business scenarios.
With this upgrade, Vi aims to improve its ability to offer personalized services, automate key operations, and ensure agility in a fast-moving market. The platform is expected to reduce time-to-market for new offerings, improve system reliability, and help the company adapt more quickly to customer needs.
Jagbir Singh, Chief Technology Officer at Vodafone Idea, said “This partnership sets the stage for a major shift in how we interact with and serve our customers. By modernizing our core systems and embedding AI across operations, we’re raising the bar for customer experience and digital service delivery.”
TCS brings to this project over two decades of experience in telecom and communications services. The company currently works with telecom clients in 45 countries, managing systems for over a billion subscribers globally. Its work spans across operations support, network modernization, IT systems, and enterprise platforms.
Ujjwal Mathur, President and Country Head – India Business at TCS, added “Our work with Vodafone Idea builds on a long-standing relationship. This transformation program reflects our continued focus on delivering reliable, future-ready solutions for critical industries like telecom. Through our AI tools and proven digital platforms, we’re helping Vi drive operational efficiency and better connect with its customers.”
TCS noted that this engagement is part of its broader commitment to supporting India’s digital growth using technology developed and built within the country. As part of this focus, TCS is working on solutions that promote secure, scalable, and sustainable digital infrastructure across sectors.
