Precision components manufacturer Azad Engineering has opened a new 7,200-square-meter lean manufacturing plant at its Centre of Excellence and Innovation Centre located in Tunikibollaram Industrial Park. The facility has been established to meet production requirements for Siemens Energy.
The newly launched unit will manufacture and supply complex, high-performance components including rotating and stationary airfoils, critical parts, sub-assemblies, and complete assemblies used in advanced gas turbines and thermal power generation systems. Currently, the plant employs 150 skilled workers, with plans to expand the workforce to 230 by the end of the year, the company said in a statement.
The inauguration was attended by Azad Engineering Chairman and CEO Rakesh Chopdar and senior Siemens Energy executives, including Andreas Schmidt, Vice President of Procurement at Siemens Energy – GS Central. The opening of this facility marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Azad Engineering and Siemens Energy, which began in 2012 with the supply of essential rotating airfoils for select stages of the SGT 400 turbine.
Over more than a decade, Azad has undergone rigorous quality assessments and technological upgrades, earning its place as a key contributor to Siemens Energy’s global supply chain. Speaking at the event, Mr Schmidt highlighted the strong growth in the global energy sector, noting that it provides a solid foundation for continued partnership and shared success.
