Aerolloy Technologies Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of PTC Industries Ltd, has successfully installed and commissioned a high-capacity Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) 400 Furnace at its Aerospace Precision Castings Plant, located within the Strategic Materials Technology Complex (SMTC) in the UP Defence Industrial Corridor. This development gives Aerolloy the ability to produce some of the largest titanium castings globally.
The new furnace strengthens Aerolloy’s position in supplying components for critical aerospace and defence systems, including next-generation jet engines and advanced military platforms. The ability to manufacture such large-scale titanium components is held by only a small number of companies worldwide.
“This commissioning marks an important advancement for both Aerolloy and PTC,” said Sachin Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, PTC Industries. “With this capability, we can now meet stringent requirements for large titanium castings used in both civil and military aviation, space, and defence systems. Alongside our previously commissioned Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) furnace for superalloy production, we are now one of only two companies globally able to produce large castings in both titanium alloys and superalloys.”
These castings are essential for complex engine components such as fan hub frames, intermediate casings (in titanium), and turbine rear frames (in superalloys), as well as structural elements in submarines, aircraft, and field artillery like the M777 ultra-light howitzer. With the VAR and VIM furnaces operational, Aerolloy now offers an end-to-end production capability—covering the entire process from raw alloy melting to high-precision large castings. This vertically integrated setup increases manufacturing efficiency, reduces dependency on imported components, and supports India’s broader defence and aerospace manufacturing goals.
The global demand for aerospace-grade titanium and superalloys continues to rise, driven by increased investments in aviation, space missions, and modern defence systems. Aerolloy’s upgraded facilities put the company in a strong position to serve both domestic and international markets, with a focus on building secure and resilient supply chains for critical sectors.
With over 60 years of experience, PTC Industries is a leader in producing precision metal components for critical applications. Through its subsidiary Aerolloy Technologies Limited, PTC manufactures titanium and superalloy castings for aerospace and defence applications, both for the domestic market and export. The company is further expanding its capabilities with a multi-million-dollar investment in a state-of-the-art facility in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor. This facility will house an integrated plant for producing aerospace-grade ingots, billets, bars, plates, and sheets from critical and strategic materials.
