Minebea Intec, a global leader in industrial weighing and inspection technologies, is ramping up production at its Hamburg site with a significant investment in new machinery. To meet rising global demand, the company has introduced a fully automated 2-tonne dead load testing machine and a new turning centre. These additions will help optimise lead times, boost efficiency, and further strengthen the company’s reputation for high-precision and durable load cells.
The company provides tailored solutions for a wide range of applications, from silos and storage tanks to mixers, batching vessels, and reactors. Its portfolio includes digital and analogue load cells, weigh modules, advanced electronics, and installation accessories.
“Our weighing solutions ensure precise, fast, and flexible processes while minimising material losses. They also serve as hygienic solutions for fill-level control,” said Yannick Salzmann, Global Product Manager at Minebea Intec. With sustainability and resource management becoming increasingly vital, the company’s technologies are in strong demand across industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and plastics.
To maintain shorter lead times and higher availability, Minebea Intec has made a seven-figure investment in automation. “The new systems enable us to reduce costs, increase productivity, and enhance quality,” explained Dr Olaf Krusemark, Head of Industrial Engineering. “This reinforces our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.”
The 2-tonne dead load testing machine ensures every load cell complies with stringent OIML requirements across the full temperature range. With its automated magazine capable of handling 32 load cells at a time, it reduces operator effort and significantly increases throughput. “This technology allows us to expand capacity and shorten delivery times while guaranteeing precision and reliability,” Dr Krusemark added.
Alongside this, the new turning centre enables high-accuracy machining for load cell components. “This investment enhances our production capabilities while ensuring consistent quality across our portfolio,” said Dr Krusemark.
Beyond advanced products, Minebea Intec positions itself as a partner supporting customers from initial consultation to commissioning and maintenance. “By modernising our production facilities, we can meet increasing demand, boost competitiveness, and deliver greater value to our customers,” stated Dr Karl Sommer, CEO & COO of Minebea Intec.
Headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, Minebea Intec has been setting benchmarks in industrial weighing and inspection for more than 150 years. Its portfolio covers load cells, platform scales, hopper and silo scales, checkweighers, metal detectors, X-ray inspection, visual inspection, and software solutions.
