BonV Aero, an emerging force in India’s aerospace sector, has earned the Certificate of Merit from the Electronic Industries Association of India (ELCINA), recognizing its achievements in manufacturing under the SME category. This award affirms the company’s strength in precision engineering, in-house innovation, and reliable production systems — all focused on creating next-generation aerial platforms designed for India’s most demanding environments.
Founded with the goal of reshaping aerial transport across difficult terrains, BonV Aero’s recognition by ELCINA marks a key step forward in its journey. Since 1976, the ELCINA Awards have spotlighted excellence in electronics and hardware manufacturing, encouraging Indian companies to meet and exceed global standards. BonV’s inclusion highlights its growing importance in India’s evolving defence and aerospace ecosystem.
“This award reflects our team’s dedication to strong manufacturing principles,” said Roshan Senapati, Head of Marketing at BonV Aero, who accepted the award on behalf of the team.
“It strengthens our commitment to keep building and improving.”
The judging panel included respected figures from India’s defence and industrial sectors, such as Lt Gen AKS Chandele (Retd), N Ramachandran, VVR Sastry, Col KV Kuber, and S Ullal — adding significant weight to the accolade. BonV Aero has consistently been recognized for its strong manufacturing capabilities and innovative contributions to the UAV sector.
The company earned commendation from the Indian Army for successfully operating its unmanned aerial vehicles in extreme and remote terrains, demonstrating reliability and resilience in demanding conditions. Its expertise has also been acknowledged internationally, with selection by the I2A Launchpad (US-India Defence Corridor) for developing dual-use aerial systems, underlining its role in advancing defense and civilian applications alike.
On the national stage, BonV Aero has been highlighted by NITI Aayog in its 2022 Coffee Table Book as a leading example of aerospace innovation under the Make in India initiative. Additionally, the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) have recognized the company as a prominent player shaping India’s UAV landscape.
Together, these recognitions reflect BonV Aero’s growing impact in both domestic and global aerospace ecosystems. These recognitions underline BonV Aero’s identity as a company driven by engineering excellence and hands-on problem solving.
Based in Bhubaneswar, BonV Aero designs and manufactures fully electric eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft tailored for defence missions, emergency relief, and high-altitude logistics. A notable achievement came in August 2023, when the company’s UAV carried a 30 kg payload at Umling La — the world’s highest motorable pass at 19,024 feet.
More recently, in June 2025, BonV’s GPR drone played a vital role in the Sikkim landslide response, assisting the Indian Army in scanning challenging terrains. These missions demonstrate the company’s ability to take concepts from blueprint to battlefield.
Looking ahead, BonV Aero has proposed the development of a UAV Drone Park in Khurda, Odisha — a hub for R&D, full-scale production, and skill development in drone technologies. Supported by streamlined government clearances, this initiative could position Odisha as a national leader in aerial systems and unmanned technologies.
For BonV Aero, the ELCINA honour isn’t just a milestone — it’s a reaffirmation of India’s capacity to design and manufacture aerospace solutions at a world-class level. As the company pushes forward, it remains focused on delivering real-world impact through precision-engineered UAV systems for national security, logistics, and disaster response — all proudly developed on Indian soil.
