Virtuoso Optoelectronics Limited (VOEPL), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Virtuoso Compressors Private Limited (VCPL), has officially inaugurated a modern reciprocating compressor manufacturing plant in Nashik, Maharashtra. This development marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into cooling components and the broader home appliance sector.
The facility was inaugurated in the presence of Dr Ashish Kumar, representing the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, who graced the event as the Guest of Honour. The new plant has been established with technical support from international refrigeration experts Huayi Compressor (Jingzhou) Co Ltd, Jiaxipera Compressor Co Ltd, and Shenzhen Eateron Company Ltd. It is equipped to manufacture compressors suitable for both residential and commercial refrigeration systems, incorporating globally proven, energy-efficient technologies.
With an annual production capacity of 2.8 million units, the facility covers a range of compressors from 3cc to 15cc, including both fixed-speed and variable-speed models. The domestic reciprocating compressor market in India currently sees an estimated demand of 22 million units per year, with a considerable portion still being imported. This facility aims to reduce that reliance and support India’s localisation goals under the Make in India initiative.
During the visit, Dr Kumar toured the manufacturing line, where he observed high-precision processes and scalable automation designed for efficiency and consistency. The leadership team also shared their strategic roadmap for scaling production and enhancing local backward integration, reaffirming the company’s commitment to self-reliant manufacturing and innovation.
Sukrit Bharati, Managing Director of VCPL, stated, “Starting compressor manufacturing is a pivotal move for our group. This initiative will streamline compliance with domestic certification norms and help develop a robust local supply chain for compressors, reinforcing the Make in India vision.”
