Chennai came alive on July 20 as more than 6,500 runners gathered for the 14th edition of the Hexaware Dream Runners Half Marathon (DRHM), showcasing a powerful blend of fitness, community spirit, and social impact. The event reaffirmed Hexaware’s dedication to encouraging active lifestyles while supporting meaningful causes.
Participants, ranging from newcomers to seasoned athletes, benefited from months of free, well-planned training sessions and expert health guidance leading up to race day. The run featured both 10 km and 21.1 km categories, welcoming people of all fitness levels and ages. The inclusive nature of the event highlighted the values of determination, unity, and wellness.
Adding significance to the run, personnel from the armed forces, police, and local civic bodies joined in, making the cause-driven nature of the event even more impactful. Tamil Nadu’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Thiru Ma Subramanian, along with Hexaware leaders Ravi Srinivasan (EVP & Global CIO), Krishna Balagurunathan (Chief Mentor & AVP – Early Careers), and Jayakrishnan Unnikrishnan (AVP – Marketing), flagged off the race, cheered on by drum beats and an enthusiastic crowd.
The race was AIMS-certified and professionally timed, offering a rewarding experience for both competitive runners and those completing their first half marathon. Volunteers ensured a clean, waste-free event with ploggers covering the route to maintain hygiene and environmental responsibility.
“This race shows how a single morning can bring together employees, clients, and the wider public through the power of shared action,” said Nita Nambiar, Chief People Officer at Hexaware. “Running side-by-side can build human connections that technology alone cannot forge.”
Proceeds from registrations and donations exceeded ₹45 lakh, supporting initiatives like prosthetic limb support, rehabilitation for domestic abuse and acid attack survivors, and assistance programs for individuals with physical or intellectual challenges.
“Each step today translates into real support for someone in need,” said Zainab Millwala Master, Race Director of Dream Runners. “Thanks to Hexaware’s continued involvement, this event has grown into a space where inclusion, wellness, and community intersect—and that’s what makes it truly meaningful.”
“The 2025 edition reflects our continued belief in driving positive change through health-focused initiatives,” added Nidhi Alexander, Chief Marketing Officer at Hexaware. “It’s more than a race—it’s a shared celebration of well-being and community connection.”
