Mitsubishi Electric India has announced the launch of the 6th edition of its flagship national competition—the Mitsubishi Electric Cup (ME Cup). Aimed at engineering and technical students, this prestigious competition challenges participants to solve practical industry problems using advanced industrial automation solutions.

Returning after a hiatus due to the pandemic, this year’s competition is organized in partnership with MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune. It invites entries from diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate students from across India. Participants will design and demonstrate intelligent automation models using Mitsubishi Electric’s Factory Automation (FA) and CNC technologies. The theme for this year is “Automating the World through Digital Innovation”, reflecting the company’s vision to empower society through smart automation.

“The competition fosters real-world learning and equips students for the demands of the evolving manufacturing sector,” said Dr S Sriram, Director – Factory Automation Systems Division, Mitsubishi Electric India. “It is aligned with India’s shift toward digital manufacturing and smart factories, and our goal is to encourage engineering talent to innovate with purpose and precision.”

The top 35 teams will receive technical training, access to FA and CNC components, and mentorship support. Selected projects will address areas such as intelligent manufacturing, energy-efficient systems, and digital automation. The final competition will take place at MIT-WPU, Pune, from February 19 to 21, 2026. Winners will receive cash prizes of ₹1,00,000 (first place), ₹75,000 (second place), and ₹50,000 (third place). All participants will receive certificates, and the winning team will earn the opportunity to represent India at the MECA Global Competition in Japan in September 2026.
