VinFast Auto India, the electric vehicle arm of global EV manufacturer VinFast, has formalized a major agreement with BatX Energies, an Indian clean-tech enterprise known for its expertise in battery recycling, rare metal recovery, and reuse of end-of-life battery systems. This collaboration marks a significant step toward building a sustainable and localized battery ecosystem in India.
As part of the partnership, BatX Energies will handle the recycling, material recovery, and repurposing of high-voltage batteries used in VinFast India’s manufacturing and after-sales operations. The process ensures the extraction and reintegration of key minerals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel, reducing the reliance on raw material mining and lowering the environmental footprint. The effort reinforces VinFast’s commitment to resource efficiency and environmental responsibility across the battery lifecycle.
This joint initiative supports India’s evolving electric mobility goals by focusing on battery lifecycle solutions that are both scalable and environmentally sound. The partnership also explores opportunities beyond recycling, including second-life battery applications, urban mining, and sustainable sourcing of rare materials. BatX will maintain full traceability of materials through its operations, ensuring transparency and regulatory compliance.
Commenting on the alliance, Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, emphasized that the partnership is central to building a circular battery value chain in India, aligning with VinFast’s broader sustainability goals. Utkarsh Singh, CEO of BatX Energies, added that this collaboration represents a shared vision of reducing environmental impact while creating infrastructure to support the country’s growing electric vehicle industry.
The agreement follows VinFast’s ongoing investments in service, support, and charging infrastructure as it prepares to introduce the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs to the Indian market. Operations at the company’s Thoothukudi facility are progressing swiftly, with strategic alliances also in place to ensure a strong ownership experience.
BatX Energies is a pioneering Indian company in battery recycling and critical mineral refining.
