Energy firms ACEN and UPC Renewables have revealed plans for more than 500 megawatts of new renewable power projects in India, with installations spread across Rajasthan and Karnataka. The joint venture includes a 420 MW solar facility in Rajasthan and a 120 MW wind power project in Karnataka, both scheduled for completion by early 2027.

Once operational, these projects are expected to generate approximately 1,158 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually — enough to supply energy to around 241,000 households and reduce carbon emissions by more than 876,000 tonnes each year. The solar plant, based in the sun-rich Barmer region of Rajasthan, is projected to contribute 767 GWh annually. Meanwhile, the wind project in Karnataka will make use of strong seasonal wind patterns and supportive topography to produce 391 GWh each year.

Construction is expected to create over 1,500 temporary jobs, offering a boost to the local economy through increased employment and related activity. Patrice Clausse, CEO of ACEN International and group investment head, said the partnership with UPC Renewables has played a key role in targeting fast-growing energy markets like India.

UPC Renewables chairman and CEO Brian Caffyn noted that after installing 630 MWp of solar power in India, this latest development marks another step forward in the companies’ ongoing collaboration and shared goals in clean energy expansion. ACEN is a leading energy company focused on expanding its renewable energy portfolio across Asia Pacific.

As the energy platform of the Ayala Group, one of the Philippines’ most prominent business conglomerates, ACEN has rapidly grown its presence in solar, wind, and other sustainable energy projects. With operations in countries such as the Philippines, Vietnam, Australia, and India, ACEN is committed to achieving its goal of 20 GW of renewables by 2030. The company emphasizes responsible investment, strong partnerships, and a long-term vision to help accelerate the energy transition in emerging markets.

UPC Renewables is a global developer of renewable energy projects with a strong focus on wind and solar power. Founded over two decades ago, the company has developed and built more than 4 GW of renewable capacity worldwide, with active projects in Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Americas.

Known for its deep technical expertise and hands-on project execution, UPC Renewables emphasizes sustainable development, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
