Skoda Auto Volkswagen India celebrated a major achievement on July 4, 2025, reaching the production of 500,000 vehicles across its two manufacturing plants in India. This milestone highlights the growth of the Czech automaker’s Indian operations, further solidifying its presence in the local market.
The production was spread between the company’s Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) plants, with approximately 70% of the vehicles produced at the Pune facility and the remaining 30% at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Skoda Auto first began its Indian manufacturing journey in 2001 with the launch of the Octavia model from its Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar plant, expanding its portfolio over the years to include popular models like the Laura, Superb, Kodiaq, Kushaq, Slavia, and the recently launched Kylaq, its first sub-4-meter vehicle.
In addition to serving the domestic market, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India’s manufacturing operations also contribute to global markets. Parts and components made in India are being exported to Skoda’s new plant in Vietnam, where local production of the Kushaq and Slavia will cater to the Vietnamese market.
Andreas Dick, Skoda Auto’s Board Member for Production and Logistics, expressed that the milestone demonstrates the company’s deep commitment to India and operational excellence through a blend of local engineering expertise and global manufacturing practices. Piyush Arora, CEO and Managing Director of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, added that the milestone signifies more than just vehicle production; it reflects the company’s growing bond with its customers. He also pointed out that the achievement coincides with two significant anniversaries – Skoda Auto’s 130th global anniversary and its 25th year in India.
The company also reported record sales in March 2025, delivering 7,422 vehicles in a single month.
