Danfoss India, a leader in energy-efficient refrigeration and climate solutions, has unveiled its new industrial refrigeration product, NeoCharge, at the Seafood Expo Bharat 2025, held at the Chennai Trade Centre from July 1st to 3rd. The launch, attended by Ravichandran Purushothaman, President of Danfoss India Region, along with industry stakeholders and peers, marks a pivotal moment as India’s seafood industry expands rapidly on the global stage, supported by initiatives such as the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) expo.
India is now the second-largest seafood producer worldwide, contributing 8.92% to global seafood production and securing the sixth spot in marine seafood output. The fisheries sector is a significant contributor to India’s economy, accounting for 6.9% of agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) and 1.07% of the National GVA, while also playing a critical role in food security and rural livelihoods.
Mr Purushothaman remarked, “India’s seafood sector is undergoing a significant transformation with an emphasis on modernization, sustainability, and increased exports. At Danfoss, we are honored to contribute to this transformation by introducing world-class refrigeration technologies while supporting the ‘Make in India’ initiative through localized manufacturing and innovation. With NeoCharge, we are enhancing the efficiency of India’s cold chain and aquaculture industries, helping reduce operational costs and driving long-term sustainability.”
India’s seafood production targets are set to soar under the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, with goals to surpass 20 million tonnes by 2030 and 40 million tonnes by 2047, alongside increasing the country’s share of global seafood exports to over 8%. These ambitious goals underscore the critical need for energy-efficient, scalable, and sustainable cold chain solutions across the entire seafood value chain.
Madhur Sehgal, Head of Danfoss Climate Solutions Sales for the India Region, explained, “NeoCharge is a revolutionary advancement in the industrial refrigeration sector. By reducing refrigerant charge in new systems by up to 50%, it significantly improves the safety of ammonia refrigeration plants. Additionally, NeoCharge is compatible with older plants, offering retrofit solutions that boost cold storage capacity while maintaining refrigerant levels.”
As India continues to strengthen its position as a global seafood export powerhouse, reliable cold chain infrastructure is vital to preserving product quality and safety. Danfoss India is at the forefront of this transformation, offering innovative refrigeration solutions that enable industries to retrofit existing setups, reduce post-harvest losses, extend product shelf life, and maintain consistent temperature control from catch to consumer.
Through its commitment to sustainability and efficiency, Danfoss India is helping the seafood industry scale up operations with confidence, while contributing to India’s growing reputation as a trusted global leader in seafood exports. Danfoss develops cutting-edge technologies aimed at enhancing machine efficiency, reducing emissions, minimizing energy consumption, and driving the shift toward electrification.
