Waaree Energies Limited, a key player in India’s clean energy sector, has secured its position as the country’s top solar module supplier, capturing a notable 17.3% share of the total module shipments in Q1 2025, according to a recent JMK Research report. This achievement highlights the company’s essential role in advancing India’s renewable energy growth and supporting the nation’s self-reliance in solar manufacturing.

The first quarter of 2025 saw significant growth in India’s solar sector. The country added about 5.93 GW of utility-scale solar capacity, a 12.2% increase from the previous quarter, while rooftop solar installations reached 1.34 GW. These results were driven by strong policy support and successful programs like the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. By March 2025, India’s cumulative solar capacity had reached 105.6 GW, solidifying its position as the leading contributor to the country’s renewable energy mix.

Waaree Energies emerged as the clear leader among 24 major suppliers, achieving the highest volume of solar module shipments in Q1 2025. The company’s 17.3% market share surpassed both domestic and international competitors, underlining the growing trend towards local manufacturing. Domestic manufacturers accounted for 89.9% of the total shipments in this quarter, with Waaree standing at the forefront of the “Made in India” solar revolution.

Dr. Amit Paithankar, Whole-time Director & CEO of Waaree Energies, commented, “Our leadership in India’s solar module market reflects Waaree’s commitment to advancing world-class solar technology and supporting the country’s clean energy transition.” He continued, “This achievement underscores the growing confidence in domestic manufacturing and represents a major milestone towards energy self-sufficiency in India. At Waaree, each module we deliver is not just about advanced engineering, but a promise to our customers, communities, and the vision of an energy-secure India.”

Waaree’s impact extends beyond India’s borders. In Q1 2025, the company’s export shipments more than doubled compared to the previous quarter, affirming its status as a global leader in solar energy. With cutting-edge manufacturing facilities and an installed capacity of around 15 GW for solar PV modules, Waaree continues to provide innovative and reliable solar solutions to over 25 countries worldwide.

India’s solar sector is on a growth trajectory, with JMK Research forecasting the addition of over 30 GW of solar capacity in FY2026. Waaree’s ongoing leadership and manufacturing capabilities are key to supporting the nation’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030. The company’s commitment to innovation, supply chain resilience, and policy advocacy ensures its position at the forefront of India’s clean energy movement.
