Schneider Electric has unveiled a groundbreaking, multi-year initiative aimed at developing an AI-powered ecosystem for sustainability and energy management. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to advancing innovative software and solutions for a more sustainable future.

At the heart of the initiative is Agentic AI, an emerging artificial intelligence technology. These AI agents are designed to work autonomously or collaboratively with clients and consultants, anticipating needs and adapting to real-time conditions. This marks a shift from traditional software, which is a passive tool, to an intelligent system capable of actively performing tasks and optimizing sustainability efforts.

The new ecosystem will serve as both a command center and decision-making layer, integrating AI agents into workflows to seamlessly collaborate with human experts and enterprise systems. The goal is to transform fragmented sustainability actions into an intelligent, interconnected system that continuously enhances outcomes and drives impactful results.

Steve Wilhite, President of Schneider’s Sustainability Business division, shared, “Our vision is collaborative intelligence—AI that works alongside human experts as a true digital teammate. This shift enables us to automate complex data analysis, freeing up our clients to focus on strategic actions that drive energy efficiency and decarbonization.”

Julien Picaud, the newly appointed Head of Product Management, will lead this initiative. With extensive experience in digital innovation and AI, Picaud will oversee efforts to integrate new features from the company’s recent acquisition of EcoAct, a leading sustainability firm. Key features include decarbonization strategy, emissions management, climate risk assessment, energy management, and a modernized user experience.

Schneider Electric is known for its leadership in energy transition solutions and has helped thousands of multinational companies achieve their sustainability goals over the past two decades. This experience will provide a strong foundation for the new AI-driven ecosystem, combining human expertise with artificial intelligence to deliver innovative solutions for energy management and sustainability.

Amy Cravens, Research Director at IDC, commented, “Schneider Electric is setting a new standard in sustainability management with its agentic AI ecosystem, equipping organizations to tackle complex challenges and turning information into actionable, future-ready systems.”

The company’s commitment to sustainability is reinforced by its recognition as the World’s Most Sustainable Company by Corporate Knights and its standing as a 14-time honoree among the World’s Most Ethical Companies. Schneider Electric’s focus on computational efficiency and responsible resource use ensures that its AI technology minimizes energy consumption and emissions, aligning with its sustainability goals.

Dan Whitsell, CTO of Schneider Electric’s Sustainability Business division, emphasized, “We are committed to deploying AI with a focus on frugal efficiency, using optimized algorithms and infrastructure to reduce energy use without compromising performance.”
