Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection (Teledyne GFD) has launched the Spyglass™ Xtend, a groundbreaking triple-infrared flame detector capable of simultaneously detecting both hydrogen (H₂) and hydrocarbon (HC) fires—a major leap in industrial fire safety. In dense industrial settings, hydrogen flames can spread to nearby equipment, igniting hydrocarbon-based fuels that an H₂-only detector would miss. The Spyglass™ Xtend eliminates this risk by detecting both H₂ and HC flames in real time, enhancing fire prevention strategies.

By integrating triple-infrared technology with a unique detection algorithm, this innovative system offers five selectable sensitivity levels and a faster response time compared to traditional UV/IR detectors. This advanced fire detection technology offers an extended detection range, capable of identifying fires from greater distances than previous systems. With rapid response times, it ensures early fire detection, minimizing potential damage. Its false alarm immunity guarantees reliable performance, resisting environmental factors such as sun glare, heavy rain, and other interferences. Additionally, the system is designed for reliable outdoor use, with heated optics that prevent condensation and frosting. Certified for safety and durability, it meets SIL 2, ATEX, IECEx, and usFMc standards.

For enhanced monitoring, the system is available with or without HD video output, providing real-time fire tracking and automatic recording during alarms for post-event analysis. Multiple output options are available, including 4-20 mA analog, alarm and fault outputs, and HART® 7 digital connectivity, allowing for effective preventive maintenance and seamless integration into existing systems.
