Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL), a defense subsidiary of Bharat Forge, introduced the MArG 45, a state-of-the-art 155mm/45 caliber mobile gun system, at IDEX Abu Dhabi 2025. The launch was officiated by H.E. Shri Sunjay Sudhir, Ambassador of India to the UAE, underscoring India’s commitment to global defense advancements. Mounted on a rugged 4×4 all-terrain platform, MArG 45 embodies next-generation artillery by combining firepower, mobility, and rapid deployment in a single innovative system.
Speaking on the occasion, Baba Kalyani, Chairman & MD of Bharat Forge Ltd., stated: “This Mounted Gun Platform marks a transformative leap in defense technology, demonstrating our ability to develop advanced, ‘Designed and Made in India’ artillery systems. It is a reflection of our unwavering commitment to innovation and excellence in defense manufacturing.” Engineered for rapid shoot-and-scoot operations, MArG 45 offers superior maneuverability, making it an ideal solution for dynamic battlefield conditions. The system supports NATO-standard ammunition, boasts a firing range of over 36 km, and features a custom-built chassis developed in-house for maximum agility.
Weighing 23.5 tons, MArG 45 carries 18 rounds with Zone 6 onboard, enabling sustained operations. It can be deployed in 1.5 minutes during the day and 2 minutes at night, with an elevation range of -2° to +72° and a traverse of 25° left and right. Designed for continuous engagement, it delivers an intense firing rate of 10 rounds in 3 minutes and a sustained rate of 42 rounds per hour, ensuring superior battlefield effectiveness. The launch of MArG 45 further cements Kalyani Group’s reputation for self-reliant, cutting-edge defense technology, with its artillery systems already being exported globally.
