Honeywell Signs Long-Term Deal with Air India for APU Support

Honeywell has signed a long-term agreement with Air India, part of Tata Group, to provide support for Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) on Air India’s current and new aircraft. This deal ensures reliable aircraft operations, reduced maintenance costs, and improved fleet availability.

APUs are essential for providing power and air conditioning to planes while they are on the ground. They ensure passenger comfort and help start the main engines. Honeywell’s APUs are known for their reliability and are part of their wide range of aviation technologies.

“We are excited to strengthen our partnership with Air India and support its fleet modernization efforts,” said Ashish Modi, President of Honeywell India. “This new milestone in our 30-year relationship with Air India shows our important role in boosting India’s aviation growth through innovative technology.”

As air travel increases, the need for reliable aftermarket services also grows. Honeywell will provide Air India with full APU support to keep its fleet of over 300 aircraft running smoothly. This includes the legacy fleet of more than 100 A320 aircraft, 15 B777 aircraft, and the new fleet of 190 B737-8 aircraft, covering Honeywell’s 131-9A, 131-9B, and 331-500 series APUs. Honeywell’s global service network ensures that its APUs perform well with minimal disruptions.

Sisira Kanta Dash, Chief Technical Officer of Air India, said, “This is a significant step in our long-standing partnership with Honeywell. This agreement is part of our global growth and transformation plans, helping us achieve more efficient and reliable operations, with maximum fleet availability, thanks to Honeywell’s advanced technology services.”

With over 70 years of experience and more than 100,000 gas turbine APUs produced, Honeywell is a trusted leader in auxiliary power solutions. Honeywell’s APUs are known for their reliability and play a key role in enhancing flight safety, operational dependability, and fuel efficiency. Honeywell also provides a global support network with integrated service solutions that meet the evolving needs of the industry.
