Lockheed Martin has announced new and expanded partnerships with 11 organisations across the United States under its 25Forward initiative, a five-year, US$25 million programme launched to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. The initiative focuses on preserving the history and lessons of September 11 and military service, supporting survivors, first responders, veterans and military families, and promoting community service, education and disaster preparedness.
The partner organisations will undertake activities covering historical preservation, educational programmes, scholarships, emergency response and support for military personnel and their families. Stuart Holliday, Senior Vice President and Chief Public Affairs Officer at Lockheed Martin, said the partnerships would extend the reach of organisations working to support communities and people who serve the country. He said the initiative was intended to create a lasting impact through investment in their work.
The 11 partner organisations include 9/11 Day, which promotes a nationwide day of service on the anniversary of the attacks, and the Air Commando Heritage Foundation, which preserves the history of Air Force Special Operations. Conservation Legacy will provide conservation service and career opportunities, including programmes for veterans through its Veteran Fire Corps.
The FDNY Foundation will continue supporting New York City firefighters, emergency medical personnel and their families, while advancing fire-safety education. Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial will support the preservation of the memorial and the stories of passengers and crew who died in the September 11 attacks.
The Gary Sinise Foundation will provide support to military personnel, veterans, first responders and their families through housing, equipment, assistance programmes and other services. The National Cold War Center will develop educational programmes on the history and legacy of the Cold War.
The Pentagon Memorial Fund will support preservation and educational initiatives, including the planned Visitor Education Center. Scholarship America will provide postsecondary scholarships through the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund for eligible dependents of people killed or permanently disabled as a result of the attacks.
Soldiers’ Angels will provide assistance and resources to service members, veterans and military families, while Team Rubicon will bring veterans and volunteers together to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from disasters. Lockheed Martin launched 25Forward in September 2026 with an initial US$10 million contribution towards the Pentagon Memorial Visitor Education Center. The broader programme will continue over five years, supporting organisations working in remembrance, education, community assistance and emergency preparedness.
