Vedanta Oil and Gas Limited (BSE: 544782; NSE: VOGL), a private-sector oil and gas exploration and production company in India, reported a resilient financial performance for the quarter ended September 30, 2026. Revenue increased 7% year-on-year to ₹2,486 crore, while EBITDA rose 34% to ₹1,393 crore, supported by higher price realisations and continued cost optimisation. Revenue for the first half of FY2026–27 stood at ₹4,993 crore. The company continued to focus on production optimisation across its mature assets in Rajasthan and Ravva. Well interventions and ongoing artificial lift optimisation programmes helped maximise recovery and support efforts to arrest production declines.
Average daily gross operated production stood at 72.2 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (kboepd) during Q2FY27, while average daily working-interest production was 47.8 kboepd. Total gross oil and gas production reached 6.6 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe), with working-interest production of 4.4 million boe for the quarter.
Vedanta Oil and Gas is advancing a pipeline of exploration and development projects intended to support its next phase of growth. Key initiatives include upcoming deepwater exploration on India’s east coast, full-phase ASP injection in North Rajasthan and exploration campaigns in the Northeast.
The company reported three discoveries in its Rajasthan block during the first half of the financial year. The discoveries comprise deep-gas and shallow-oil accumulations in previously unexplored reservoir intervals across the Kaameshwari, Saraswati and Raageshwari fields. Their hydrocarbon potential and commercial viability remain under evaluation.
The company has also been awarded two offshore blocks in the Krishna Godavari Basin under the Discovered Small Field (DSF) IV bid round: KG/OSDSF/G1/2025, a shallow-water block, and KG/DWDSF/GD10/2025, a deepwater block. The awards align with its plans to expand its offshore presence and explore India’s hydrocarbon resources through advanced technologies and efficient project execution.
Jim Johnny Gast, Interim Chief Executive Officer and Whole-Time Director, Vedanta Oil and Gas, said, “Our Q2FY27 performance reflects disciplined execution and the strength of our portfolio. Focused production optimisation initiatives are driving decline arrest across our mature assets, while new discoveries reinforce the untapped potential of our acreage. Backed by a robust pipeline of exploration and development projects across Rajasthan, the Northeast and offshore blocks, we are focused on unlocking future growth, enhancing production and delivering sustainable, long-term value.”
Arpit Mundra, Chief Financial Officer, said the company’s profitability reflected the resilience of its financial position and disciplined capital management. He added that higher price realisations and operational discipline supported healthy cash generation while allowing investment in strategic growth opportunities.
The company clarified that the DSF IV bid round concluded before the demerger of Vedanta Limited’s oil and gas undertaking. Following the demerger and the scheme approved by the National Company Law Tribunal, an application will be submitted to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons for the transfer of participating interests in the awarded blocks from Vedanta Limited to Vedanta Oil and Gas Limited, formerly MALCO Energy Limited.
