Elgi Equipments Limited has unveiled the latest evolution of its AB Series Oil-Free Screw Air Compressors at drinktec India 2026, being held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from October 28 to 30. The updated range is presented under the theme “Better Efficiency. Better Planet”, focusing on energy use, water management, operating reliability and lifecycle costs.
The AB Series uses water-injected compression technology to deliver ISO 8573 Class 0 oil-free compressed air. The system circulates water within a closed loop, using condensate for automatic replenishment. According to ELGi, this arrangement avoids the need for a continuous open-loop water supply and eliminates the requirement for an external reverse osmosis system and external water pump associated with the compressor’s closed-loop water circuit.
Since the series was introduced in 2019, ELGi has made changes to motor performance, airend efficiency, package design, compressor controls and remote monitoring. Under the company’s stated comparison conditions, the AB Series demonstrates 5–6% lower specific power consumption. ELGi’s comparative assessment also indicates a lifecycle-cost benefit of up to 13% over a 40,000-hour period, based on acquisition, electricity and maintenance costs. Actual results may vary according to operating conditions and installation.
Vikas, President and Head of Global Product Management at Elgi Equipments Limited, said the updated series brought together improvements in motor performance, airend efficiency, compressor control and monitoring. He said the objective was to provide oil-free compressed air with improved energy use, resource management and operational visibility.
The range includes ELGi’s indigenously developed motor, the Neuron 4 controller and Air~Alert, an internet-connected remote-monitoring solution. The controller supports compressor operation and sequencing, while Air~Alert provides information on operating conditions, performance and maintenance requirements. ELGi also offers a five-year warranty on key AB Series components, subject to applicable terms and conditions.
Bhavesh Karia, Executive President for ISAAME and Southeast Asia at ELGi, said food, beverage and dairy manufacturers needed dependable compressed-air quality alongside efficient energy use, water management and equipment uptime. He said the AB Series was designed to address these requirements over the equipment lifecycle. The compressors are intended for food and beverage processing, dairy, breweries, bakeries and confectionery manufacturing, as well as pharmaceuticals, electronics, automotive, power, metals, oil and gas, and textiles.
The AB Series is available across a power range of 11–110 kW, or 15–150 hp, with free air delivery from 29 to 560 cfm and operating pressures ranging from 4.5 to 12 bar. The platform carries ISO 8573 Class 0 certification, alongside CE, UL, CRN and DOSH certifications for applicable requirements. ELGi also holds ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System certification. ELGi said the updated series would be available across its global markets through its sales and service network.
