Millworks Technologies Limited (BSE: 544826) has received two developmental purchase orders from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for aircraft assemblies and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chennai-based TridenTech Engineering Private Limited for the development and manufacture of engines for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The HAL orders cover Oxygen Valve Assemblies for the HAWK aircraft and Surge Warning Sensor Assemblies for the MiG-29 fighter aircraft. The oxygen valve assemblies will be supplied to HAL’s Overhaul Division and form part of the HAWK advanced jet trainer’s onboard oxygen system.
The second order, from HAL’s Engine Division in Koraput, covers the development of surge warning sensor assemblies for the RD-33 engine that powers the MiG-29. The assemblies will form part of the engine monitoring system. Both products require precision manufacturing, strict quality controls and traceability because they are used in flight-critical applications. Millworks said the orders would support its work in aerospace and defence manufacturing.
Under the MoU, Millworks and TridenTech will work together on the co-development, manufacturing and marketing of an internal combustion engine for UAVs. The engines are intended for defence, commercial, surveillance, logistics, agricultural and specialised missions in Indian and overseas markets.
TridenTech, based at the IIT Madras Research Park in Chennai, will lead engine design, development, assembly and testing. Millworks will handle manufacturing engineering, production and export marketing under a revenue-sharing arrangement. Millworks will retain exclusive rights to manufacturing processes it develops for engine castings, seals and key components.
Sridhar Acharya, Managing Director of Millworks Technologies, said the HAL orders recognised the company’s manufacturing capabilities and quality systems. He said the partnership with TridenTech would combine engine design expertise with Millworks’ manufacturing, tooling and process capabilities. The company will focus on executing the HAL orders and working towards the development of the first UAV engine prototype.
Founded in 2021 by Sridhar Acharya and Madhu HK, Millworks Technologies manufactures precision-machined components, sheet metal parts and integrated assemblies for railways, aerospace, defence and semiconductor applications.
