Marico Limited has reported an 89.3% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions intensity since FY13 and a 29.95% reduction in Scope 3 emissions intensity against its FY19 baseline, as the company continues to implement its climate action plan. The company said renewable energy accounted for 77.3% of its operational energy consumption in FY2025-26. Its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity stood at 0.84 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per crore rupees of revenue during the year.
Marico’s climate strategy is guided by its ESG 2030 Roadmap. The company aims to achieve net-zero emissions across its owned manufacturing operations in India by 2030 and across its global operations by 2040. It is targeting a 93% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030 against the FY13 baseline.
The company said its progress has been supported by greater use of renewable energy, energy-efficiency measures, process improvements and a shift towards lower-carbon energy sources. Its climate initiatives also cover supply chain management, responsible sourcing, packaging circularity and resource allocation.
Amit Bhasin, Chief Legal Officer, Group General Counsel and Secretary of the CSR Committee at Marico Limited, said climate action was part of the company’s business strategy and long-term growth plans. He said the company would continue to increase renewable energy use, improve energy efficiency, strengthen responsible sourcing and work with value-chain partners to meet its emissions targets.
Marico plans to address residual emissions through carbon sequestration initiatives and verified carbon offsets as part of its decarbonisation roadmap. The company’s Climate Transition Plan brings its climate-related initiatives together under a common framework. It links emissions targets with implementation plans, governance, resource allocation and performance measurement. Marico said the framework is intended to support emissions reduction, business resilience and long-term planning. Further information on the company’s climate targets, transition pathway and progress is available in its Climate Action Report FY2025-26.
