Blue Energy Motors (BEM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) under the Government of India’s PARIVARTAN Scheme to encourage the replacement of ageing commercial vehicles with cleaner alternatives across the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). The scheme aims to reduce transport-related pollution by supporting the replacement of older, high-emission trucks and buses with cleaner vehicles. Blue Energy Motors will participate in the initiative to support the adoption of electric heavy-duty trucks for freight and logistics operations.

The partnership comes as India seeks to reduce emissions from commercial transportation and improve air quality in major urban regions. By combining government support with electric vehicle technology and domestic manufacturing capabilities, the initiative is intended to help fleet operators consider cleaner alternatives for heavy-duty freight movement.

Anirudh Bhuwalka, Founder and Managing Director of Blue Energy Motors, said the PARIVARTAN Scheme would support the transition to cleaner freight transportation. He said policy support, advanced vehicle technology and a strong domestic manufacturing ecosystem could help accelerate the adoption of zero-emission trucks in India.

Blue Energy Motors manufactures electric and liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered heavy-duty trucks. The company said more than 1,400 of its green heavy-duty trucks are operating on key freight routes across India. According to the company, these vehicles have collectively covered more than 150 million kilometres on Indian roads, helping avoid over 44,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. Blue Energy Motors said the reduction is equivalent to the carbon absorption of approximately 1.8 million trees.

The company’s participation in PARIVARTAN adds to its efforts to expand cleaner transport options for commercial fleet operators. Electric heavy-duty trucks offer a zero-tailpipe-emission option for freight operations, while LNG-powered trucks provide an alternative to conventional diesel vehicles.

The scheme is expected to bring together government policy, vehicle manufacturers and transport operators to support the replacement of older commercial vehicles and encourage the use of cleaner technologies. Blue Energy Motors said it would continue to support this transition through its electric heavy-duty truck solutions and related services.

Blue Energy Motors manufactures electric and LNG-powered heavy-duty trucks in India. Its business combines vehicle technology with energy-as-a-service offerings and maintenance support. The company works with strategic partners and suppliers to develop solutions for commercial freight operators seeking to reduce emissions and improve the viability of cleaner transportation.
