Unibloc Hygienic Technologies (UHT) has redesigned its Unibloc QuickStrip PD200 series hygienic lobe pumps, adding features from its CleanPlus range to improve cleaning, maintenance and operating performance in low-flow applications. The redesigned pumps are intended for food processing, personal care and specialty chemical applications. Typical uses include precision dosing, metering and integration with filling machines. They are also suited to handling high-temperature and abrasive products, as well as products containing delicate inclusions.
The PD200 series incorporates several features developed for UHT’s larger CleanPlus pumps. FlushCap bearings support rotor stability while allowing cleaning fluid to penetrate the bearing area, making the pumps suitable for clean-in-place (CIP) processes. Bolt-free rotors eliminate the risk of damage caused by incorrect tightening, while fully machined stainless-steel rotors remove plastic components from the product-contact process.
The patented QuickStrip design is intended to reduce cleaning time and maintenance costs. Its simplified construction allows operators to disassemble the pump without tools, reducing manual cleaning cycles from hours to minutes. Seal replacement can also be completed by removing the ergonomic wing nuts and sliding off the housing.
Calle Danielsson, Sales Engineer at UHT, said the design helps reduce the time operators spend maintaining equipment and allows them to focus more on production. He added that quicker disassembly and lower labour requirements could reduce the pump’s total cost of ownership.
The redesigned PD200 series also features tighter operating tolerances, supporting higher flow rates at lower speeds. This helps maintain consistent performance as product viscosity changes and improves accuracy in filling and dosing applications by reducing product slip past the rotors.
The ability to handle batches with different viscosities using a single setup can simplify production operations. Higher working pressure at lower speeds can also reduce mechanical stress on the pump and support longer service life. Three PD200 models are available, with inlet sizes ranging from 0.35 inches to 1.0 inches. Their capacities range from 0.25 gallon to 18 gallons, equivalent to approximately 0.1 to 60 litres per minute.
Unibloc Hygienic Technologies supplies positive displacement pumps, air-operated double-diaphragm pumps, drum pumps and other flow-control equipment for demanding hygienic applications. Its brands include Unibloc, Flotronic, Standard Pump and Hygenitec. The company serves food, beverage, bakery, meat and poultry, brewing, pharmaceutical and transportation markets, with products designed to simplify maintenance, reduce downtime and lower operating costs.
