Nova Compression, LLC, a provider of natural gas contract compression services in Oklahoma and Texas, has appointed Chief Financial Officer Zach Gray as interim Chief Executive Officer following the departure of Jonathan Mitchell. Mr Mitchell had led Nova since January 2020, overseeing a period of acquisitions and fleet expansion across Oklahoma and Texas. The company’s board thanked him for his contribution to its growth.
Hale Hoak, a member of Nova’s board, said Mitchell had helped the company expand through acquisitions and strengthen its presence in key natural gas-producing regions. He expressed confidence in Mr Gray and the existing leadership team. Mr Gray joined Nova as CFO in May. He brings more than 20 years of experience across energy infrastructure, finance, operations and corporate development. He also previously served as an officer in the US Army’s 25th Infantry Division.
Chris Leary, Head of Infrastructure Equity at OIC, LP and a Nova board member, said Mr Gray’s financial and operational experience would support the company’s focus on operational performance, capital allocation and long-term business development. MrGray said his immediate priorities as interim CEO would include customer service, operational and financial performance, and disciplined capital investment. He added that Nova had an experienced workforce, a diverse compression fleet and the support of its financial partners.
The company has also appointed Mike Wright as Senior Vice President of Business Development. A petroleum engineer, Mr Wright has more than 20 years of experience in developing artificial lift and compression businesses. He will focus on expanding relationships with existing customers, securing new business and improving customer satisfaction.
Jay McKenna has been named interim president. Mr McKenna is a managing director at OIC, LP, one of Nova’s shareholders, and has experience as an executive and entrepreneur in the energy sector. He will work with Gray and the wider management team on operational performance.
Nova provides contract compression services to natural gas producers throughout Oklahoma and Texas, including the Eagle Ford and Delaware basins. Its services include gas lift, wellhead and general compression, along with maintenance, servicing and repairs. The company operates a mixed fleet comprising conventional natural gas compression equipment, electric compression units and high-pressure gas lift systems. This range enables it to support producers at different stages of the production lifecycle.
