Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), the flagship company of the Adani Group, and Jabil Inc (NYSE: JBL) have signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a proposed 50:50 joint venture for manufacturing and assembling artificial intelligence (AI) and data centre equipment in India.

The proposed venture remains subject to definitive agreements, applicable approvals and customary conditions. The MoU follows the companies’ June 2026 announcement of plans to develop a strategic alliance focused on building an AI and data centre infrastructure manufacturing ecosystem in India.

The joint venture is expected to manufacture and assemble AI racks, servers, storage systems and networking equipment used in data centres. Its planned product range will also include supporting infrastructure such as power distribution units, liquid-cooling systems and transformers. The companies also intend to provide installation and commissioning services.

The proposed facility is expected to have multi-gigawatt AI rack manufacturing capacity, supporting computing systems with a combined power capacity of several gigawatts. The manufacturing base is intended to serve India’s growing demand for AI infrastructure while supporting exports to international markets.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, said the expansion of AI would require investment across energy, computing infrastructure and precision manufacturing. “The AI revolution will demand far more than just breakthroughs in algorithms. It will require an entire new industrial architecture where energy, hyperscale infrastructure, advanced computing and precision manufacturing converge to power the intelligence economy,” Mr Adani said. He added that the proposed joint venture would combine Jabil’s engineering and manufacturing capabilities with the Adani Group’s presence in energy, infrastructure and data centres.

Mike Dastoor, Chief Executive Officer of Jabil, said the agreement marked the next step in building an AI infrastructure manufacturing platform in India. He said the partnership would combine Jabil’s six decades of engineering and manufacturing experience with Adani’s infrastructure and energy capabilities to supply rack-level data centre solutions to customers in India and overseas.

India’s data centre capacity is projected to reach 5–8 gigawatts by 2030, driven by the expansion of cloud computing, AI applications and data localisation requirements. The companies estimate that the global market opportunity for AI computing infrastructure could exceed US$3 trillion over the next seven years.

The proposed venture is intended to add domestic manufacturing capabilities to India’s data centre supply chain. The companies also cited the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the tax holiday for data centres announced in the Union Budget 2026 as factors expected to support investment in the sector.

The project aligns with the Adani Group’s stated commitment to invest US$100 billion in developing 5 GW of green-energy-powered, hyperscale AI-ready data centres by 2035. The proposed manufacturing venture would extend the group’s activities into the hardware required for AI computing.

For Jabil, the partnership would expand its participation in India’s data centre market. The company reported revenue of US$36 billion in fiscal year 2026 and has expanded its capabilities through acquisitions including Hanley Energy Group, which provides critical power and energy management solutions, and Mikros Technologies, a specialist in liquid cooling for high-performance computing systems.

Headquartered in Ahmedabad, India, the Adani Group is an integrated infrastructure conglomerate with interests spanning resources, logistics, energy, agro, real estate, public transport infrastructure, consumer finance and defence. Its stated business philosophy centres on nation-building, sustainable development and regional transformation.
