SEIL Energy India Limited has inaugurated a 10-kilometre raw water pumping project at Juvvalapalem village in Undi Constituency, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. Developed under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, the project aims to improve access to drinking water for nearly 10,000 people across five villages.
The project has been completed with a CSR investment of ₹1.56 crore from SEIL Energy. It is intended to address the long-standing water shortage faced by residents of Kalavapudi, Pallipalem, Prathella Meraka, Modi and SC Bose Colony. High salinity in the surrounding areas has affected the availability of suitable drinking water, making it difficult for local families to meet their daily needs.
The project was inaugurated by Kanumuru Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, Deputy Speaker and MLA of Undi Constituency, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, Minister of State for Steel and Heavy Industries and Member of Parliament from Narsapuram, and Mantena Rama Raju, Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), were also present at the event.
With the commissioning of the pumping system, residents of the five villages are expected to gain better access to drinking water. The initiative is aimed at reducing the difficulties faced by local communities and supporting improvements in public health, hygiene and living conditions.
Janmejaya Mahapatra, CEO of SEIL Energy India Limited, said access to safe drinking water is essential for human health and dignity. He noted that the company’s responsibilities extend beyond power generation to include meaningful contributions to the communities around its operations.
Mahapatra added that the 10-kilometre project addresses a long-standing local need and reflects the company’s commitment to community development. He also acknowledged the support of government representatives and the local administration in bringing the project to completion.
The initiative forms part of SEIL Energy’s wider efforts to support community welfare through investments in essential infrastructure. By addressing drinking water requirements, the company aims to create lasting social benefits and help improve the quality of life of residents in the region.
