Awshad, a medical cannabis wellness startup, has reported that consumers aged 30–40 account for approximately 44% of its customers whose age details are available. The group is the company’s largest customer segment, followed by consumers aged 20–30, according to data collected over the past five years.

The company’s findings point to growing interest in wellness products among working-age Indians. Anxiety and sleep-related products account for a significant share of Awshad’s orders, reflecting consumer interest in products aimed at managing stress, sleep difficulties and other wellness concerns.

Awshad has recorded more than 12,000 orders across 1,433 cities, covering all 36 states and Union Territories in India. The spread of its customers indicates that demand for wellness products is reaching consumers beyond major urban centres. The company’s data shows that products related to anxiety account for around 40% of its total orders, while insomnia and sleep-related products contribute approximately 20%. Together, these categories make up about 60% of the company’s order volume. Demand patterns also differ across age groups, with older consumers accounting for a more significant share of orders in categories such as chronic pain.

The findings come as India’s health and wellness market continues to expand. According to IMARC Group, the market was valued at approximately US$164.35 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach US$257.94 billion by 2034. Greater health awareness, interest in preventive care and changing consumer preferences are among the factors supporting this growth.

Digital platforms are also influencing how consumers discover and purchase wellness products. PwC India’s Voice of the Consumer 2025 report found that 80% of surveyed Indian consumers used at least one healthcare app or wearable device. Mental health, wellbeing and sleep tracking were among the key areas of interest. Other PwC research found that 53% of urban consumers surveyed had purchased health and wellness products online for the first time following recommendations from online communities.

Richa Jaggi, Co-founder of Awshad, said the company’s five-year data shows that wellness is becoming a regular part of everyday life, particularly among working-age consumers. She noted that consumers are increasingly exploring different options and paying greater attention to their wellbeing.Shivam Singhee, CEO of Awshad, said the industry’s growth also brings a responsibility to build consumer trust. He added that transparency, consistency and credible information are important as consumers consider wellness products for regular use.
