Gastops has renewed its long-term supply agreement with Vestas Wind Systems A/S for MetalSCAN oil debris monitoring technology used across Vestas wind turbine platforms. The renewed agreement was announced at WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 and extends the collaboration between Gastops and Vestas. Under the agreement, Gastops will continue supplying MetalSCAN technology to support equipment health monitoring, condition-based maintenance and predictive maintenance programmes across Vestas’ turbine platforms.

The renewed supply agreement will take effect from January 1, 2027. MetalSCAN is an online oil debris monitoring system that detects and monitors metallic wear in lubricated machinery. The technology provides real-time information on equipment condition, allowing operators to identify developing mechanical issues and assess equipment health during operation.

By providing early indications of wear, the system can support condition-based maintenance programmes and help operators plan maintenance activities based on equipment condition. This can reduce the risk of unexpected equipment failures and associated downtime.

Dirk Kusters, Business Development Manager at Gastops, said, “The wind industry continues to focus on reliability, performance, and maximizing the value of existing assets. We are proud to continue our relationship with Vestas and support operators with technologies that provide earlier insight into equipment condition and more informed maintenance decision-making.”

Brennan West, Vice President, Energy, Marine & Land at Gastops, said, “This agreement reflects the confidence Vestas has placed in MetalSCAN technology over many years of collaboration. Real-time condition monitoring continues to play an increasingly important role in modern maintenance strategies, and we look forward to supporting Vestas and its customers in the years ahead.”

MetalSCAN has been deployed in aerospace, marine, energy and industrial applications. Gastops said more than 50,000 MetalSCAN sensors have been delivered globally to date. The technology monitors metallic particles generated by wear within lubricated systems. Information from the monitoring system can be used by operators and maintenance teams to identify changes in equipment condition and support decisions on inspection, maintenance and continued operation. The renewed agreement extends the use of MetalSCAN in the wind energy sector as turbine operators seek to improve equipment availability and manage maintenance requirements across increasingly large and complex turbine fleets.

Gastops develops condition monitoring technologies and services for aerospace, defence, energy and industrial applications. Its portfolio includes online monitoring sensors, at-line analysis, modelling and simulation, laboratory testing, engineering, design and maintenance, repair and overhaul services.

Founded in 1979, Gastops provides condition monitoring solutions for critical equipment and machinery. Its technologies are designed to provide information on equipment health and support maintenance and operational decisions. The agreement with Vestas adds to Gastops’ long-term presence in the wind energy industry and continues the deployment of MetalSCAN technology across Vestas turbine platforms.
