Woodside Energy, Australia’s largest listed energy company, is progressing the Woodside Energy development of its Bengaluru hub, Woodside Global Solutions. The centre will support the company’s global operations by bringing together teams working across technology, business and operational functions.

Woodside Global Solutions will have capabilities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science and product engineering, along with finance and operations support. The teams will work with Woodside employees across the company’s global locations on projects and initiatives supporting its operations.

Bengaluru was selected for the hub because of its technology ecosystem, availability of skilled professionals and position as a major centre for technology and innovation. The hub is being developed as the energy industry faces changes in operating requirements, technology and data use. Woodside said the Bengaluru team will support work related to efficiency, resilience and data-driven decision-making.

Kristine Leo, Vice President and India Country Manager, Woodside, said the Bengaluru hub would support the company’s international growth. “Woodside Global Solutions represents an important step in our growth journey. As Woodside continues to grow internationally, we are focused on building the skills, collaborations, and ways of working that create value across our operations. Bengaluru gives us access to exceptional talent that will help shape Woodside’s next phase of growth with global colleagues,” she said.

Sameer Singhal, Head of Digital Solutions Centre, Woodside, said technology was creating new opportunities for companies to improve decision-making and address complex business requirements. “Technology is creating new opportunities to improve decision-making, enhance efficiency and solve increasingly complex business challenges. Through Woodside Global Solutions, we are bringing together teams across critical technology domains that will contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives and Woodside’s global priorities,” he said.

The Bengaluru hub will work with Woodside’s existing global teams, allowing technical and business specialists in India to contribute to projects across the company. The centre will cover a range of technology functions, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science and product engineering.

Woodside has been expanding its use of technology and digital capabilities across its operations as the energy industry becomes increasingly data-driven. The company said the Bengaluru operation would add to its global capabilities while providing access to India’s technology talent.

Woodside is a global energy company that established the liquefied natural gas industry in Australia in the 1980s. Its current portfolio includes oil and gas and new energy projects across Australia, North America and Africa. The company’s strategy includes maintaining a diversified energy portfolio while responding to changes in the global energy system. Woodside Global Solutions in Bengaluru is expected to support this strategy through technology, engineering, business services and collaboration with teams across the company.
