Hexaware Technologies (NSE: HEXT), a global provider of IT solutions and services, has announced its collaboration with the Project NANDA Fellowship, a three-month, fully remote programme that gives developers hands-on experience in building open-source infrastructure for the emerging Internet of AI Agents. The fellowship is hosted by FAN, the umbrella programme behind Project NANDA, and supported by Hexaware as part of its participation in the open agentic web ecosystem. The programme focuses on a key technical challenge facing the development of autonomous AI systems: enabling AI agents to discover, verify and coordinate with one another at scale.

Fellows will contribute directly to Project NANDA, an initiative that originated at the MIT Media Lab and is developing infrastructure, standards and reference implementations for an open and decentralised Internet of AI Agents. Their work will contribute to the project’s open-source community and support areas such as agent discovery, verifiable identity and secure coordination across organisational boundaries. The programme is designed to provide participants with practical experience in developing infrastructure that can be used in real-world agentic AI environments.

The inaugural cohort comprises more than 10 fellows, including Hexaware engineers and external developers selected from a global applicant pool. Participants will receive a stipend, direct mentorship and the opportunity to contribute code to live open-source agentic infrastructure.

The fellowship is intended to provide developers with experience beyond traditional training programmes by allowing them to work on active infrastructure projects and contribute to technologies being developed for the next generation of AI systems. For Hexaware, the initiative has two objectives: supporting the development of AI infrastructure talent and contributing to the open-source ecosystem working on the open agentic web. The programme also complements Hexaware’s investments in agentic AI, including its AI delivery layer, Zerovity™.

The company said its participation will also strengthen engagement with research and developer communities working on technologies that will determine how AI agents interact and operate in production environments. Applications for the Project NANDA Fellowship are open to developers worldwide. The priority review deadline is September 19, 2026, with applications received by that date receiving priority consideration.

Hexaware is a global technology and business process services company that works with enterprises on digital transformation, technology and business process requirements. Project NANDA originated at the MIT Media Lab and is focused on developing foundational infrastructure for the Open Agentic Web. Its work addresses how large numbers of AI agents can discover one another, verify capabilities and coordinate tasks while addressing security and scalability requirements.
