BPL Medical Technologies and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, have formalised the transfer of an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered mammography technology, paving the way for further development and integration of the technology into mammography equipment.The technology transfer ceremony was held at AIIMS Delhi and brought together senior representatives from both organisations. Under the agreement, BPL Medical Technologies will work with AIIMS to further develop the AI technology for use in mammography equipment, with a focus on breast imaging and potential clinical applications.
The collaboration combines AIIMS Delhi’s academic research and clinical expertise with BPL Medical Technologies’ capabilities in medical equipment development and manufacturing. The companies aim to further develop the technology and support its adoption across India, including in tier 2 and tier 3 regions.
The ceremony was attended by Prof Nikhil Tandon, Director, AIIMS New Delhi, and Ajay Jindal, Chief Financial Officer, BPL Medical Technologies Pvt Ltd. Also present were Prof Govind Makharia, Associate Dean (Research), AIIMS; Prof Velpandian, Head, IPR Cell, AIIMS; Prof Smriti Hari, Professor, Department of Radiology; and Dr Krithika Rangarajan, Associate Professor, Department of Radiology. Siddhant, Product Head – Digital Health, BPL Medical Technologies Pvt Ltd along with other senior members of both organisations, also attended the event.

BPL Medical Technologies will now focus on developing the mammography AI technology and working towards its integration with mammography equipment. The company will also continue to work with academic institutions on medical technology development and applications.
The initiative is intended to support the development of AI-enabled tools for breast imaging and expand access to medical technologies. The collaboration also reflects the role of industry-academia partnerships in taking research from institutions into applications that can be developed for wider healthcare use.
