GibbsCAM®, the CAM solution for programming CNC machine tools from simple 2-axis machining to complex multi-task machining, announces the release of GibbsCAM 2027. The latest version introduces enhancements focused on programming efficiency, setup visibility, process validation, advanced machining strategies, and shop-floor accessibility.
Under the theme “More Clarity. More Control. More Confidence.”, GibbsCAM 2027 helps manufacturers work more efficiently by improving visibility throughout the programming process, expanding user control over machining strategies, and providing better tools for validation and decision-making. New workspace visualisation capabilities, enhanced simulation review, expanded multiaxis machining functionality, and smarter AI-powered assistance help programmers move from concept to production with greater confidence.
“With GibbsCAM 2027, we continue our commitment to helping manufacturers become more productive, efficient, and confident in their machining processes,” said Thorsten Straß, President of GibbsCAM. “This release focuses on the areas that matter most to our customers: gaining greater visibility into the programming and machining environment, improving control over complex manufacturing processes, and delivering tools that simplify decision-making and validation. From enhanced workspace visualization and simulation capabilities to expanded multiaxis machining strategies and smarter Copilot functionality, GibbsCAM 2027 represents another important step forward in our mission to deliver innovative CAM solutions that help manufacturers succeed today and prepare for the future.”
Smarter Everyday Programming
GibbsCAM 2027 introduces several enhancements designed to make daily programming more efficient and easier to manage. Improved GibbsCAM Copilot responses, image support, and source-reference links help users find and verify information more quickly, while suggested follow-up questions make it easier to explore related topics.
Workflow improvements such as Undo/Redo support for machining markers, scalable labels, and coordinate-system markers, and new Multi-Select and Range-Select modes streamline common programming tasks and help users tailor the workspace to their preferred working environment. Together, these enhancements reduce friction in day-to-day programming and improve overall usability.

Greater Setup Clarity Directly in the Workspace
GibbsCAM 2027 brings more process visibility directly into the programming environment, reducing the need to switch between applications during setup validation.
Programmers can now display the tool directly on the toolpath, review in-process stock for selected operations, and visualize machine assemblies, fixtures, and part setups without launching Machine Simulation. Enhanced material rendering further improves the representation of parts, tools, fixtures, and machine components, providing a more realistic view of the machining environment throughout the programming process.

Faster Simulation Review and Cleaner Validation
Simulation review becomes faster and more focused in GibbsCAM 2027. The new Reverse-Rewind capability allows programmers to move backward through simulations and review previous machining stages without restarting.
New chip-management functionality automatically identifies and manages detached chips and remnant bodies during simulation. Combined with the Stop at Chip Creation option, programmers can review and remove unwanted material fragments as they appear, resulting in cleaner simulations and easier validation of machining processes and finished part conditions.

More Flexible Hole, Tool, and Turning Workflows
Several enhancements expand flexibility across core programming workflows.
Hole Manager can now split through-hole features into multiple features, allowing different machining strategies to be applied where required. Hole processes can also be applied directly to connector and terminator points, reducing the need for geometry modifications.
Tool-management workflows have been streamlined through direct access to the Tool Dialog from the Tool List Editor, while spindle rotation direction is now displayed directly within tool previews. For turning applications, Oscillating Thread Turning delivers the advantages of a proven threading strategy while maintaining familiar workflows and compatibility with existing processes and CoroPlus Tool Library data.

Advanced 3D Machining: Faster, Easier, More Accurate
GibbsCAM 2027 continues to expand Advanced 3D Machining with enhancements focused on machining efficiency, ease of use, and improved part quality.
New and enhanced machining strategies help reduce unnecessary tool movement and programming effort while producing cleaner and more consistent toolpaths. Additional controls for profile management, corner cleanup, drive curves, toolholder awareness, and automated cleanup operations provide greater precision and flexibility when machining complex components.

Expanded Multiaxis and 5-Axis Capabilities
Multiaxis machining capabilities have also been significantly expanded. VoluMill technology is now available within Rotary Machining, delivering more consistent cutter engagement and efficient material removal in challenging geometries. Geodesic Morph finishing gains new guide-curve controls that improve toolpath flow and surface quality, while Multiaxis Finishing introduces additional options for Wall Finishing, Rotary Finishing, and Constant Z-Cut machining.
Deburring operations become more selective by allowing inclusion or exclusion of holes and vertical edges, helping programmers focus machining only where required and improving overall process efficiency.

Bringing Manufacturing Data to the Shop Floor
GibbsCAM GO Operator extends access to manufacturing information beyond the programming department.
Building on GibbsCAM GO Viewer, GO Operator enables manufacturing engineers and shop-floor personnel to prepare production data, generate NC code from approved processes, and communicate manufacturing information to CNC machines without requiring a full GibbsCAM programming license. This helps organizations streamline manufacturing workflows while preserving centralized control over toolpath creation and editing.
