Exide Technologies has expanded its Solition Material Handling portfolio with the launch of a new 24V lithium-ion battery designed for pallet truck applications. The battery has been developed as an alternative to conventional EPzV and EPzS batteries and is suited to retail, logistics and distribution operations.
The new Solition Material Handling 24V battery is compatible with pallet trucks from leading original equipment manufacturers, including Linde, Jungheinrich, Still, Crown and Logisnext. Its integrated onboard charger enables opportunity charging during operating shifts, eliminating the need for battery changes or dedicated charging rooms in suitable applications.
The solution is designed to give operators greater flexibility while supporting the transition from conventional lead-acid technology to lithium-ion power. Its Plug & Play design allows straightforward integration into existing 24V pallet truck fleets, helping businesses modernise their material handling operations without replacing their equipment.
The battery uses Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) technology, which is designed to provide safe and reliable operation along with integrated safety features. Its maintenance-free design can help reduce routine upkeep and operating costs, while its long service life provides more than 3,000 charge cycles under specified operating conditions.
Designed and assembled in Europe, the new battery expands Exide Technologies’ range of solutions for material handling applications. The system is particularly suited to operations where vehicles are used continuously or across multiple shifts and where charging flexibility can contribute to higher equipment availability.
Magnus Ohlsson, Senior Business Director, Motion, Exide Technologies, said, “Many pallet truck operators are looking for practical ways to benefit from lithium-ion technology without having to replace their existing fleet. The Solition Material Handling 24V battery has been developed to support that transition, combining opportunity charging capability, maintenance-free operation and a long service life in a solution tailored to the needs of today’s retail, logistics and distribution environments.”
The integrated charging capability allows operators to recharge the battery during suitable breaks or operating intervals, reducing dependence on conventional charging infrastructure. The approach can also remove the requirement for battery swapping in applications where opportunity charging meets operational needs.
With the latest addition to the Solition Material Handling range, Exide Technologies is broadening its offering for pallet truck operators seeking an alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. The new 24V lithium-ion solution combines compatibility with existing equipment, simplified charging and reduced maintenance requirements.
The product is aimed at businesses looking to improve the efficiency of material handling operations while extending the capabilities of their existing pallet truck fleets. Its introduction further strengthens Exide Technologies’ presence in lithium-ion energy solutions for industrial and logistics applications.
